IMPORTANT NOTE: To avoid loss of data (i.e. emails, contacts, calendar events, etc.) you must create a back-up of your data prior to moving from Network Solutions email to Office 365.

MOVING FROM NETWORK SOLUTIONS EMAIL TO OFFICE 365

Office 365 is hosted on a different server than our nsMail service.  Moving an email service from nsMail to Office 365 will require the process detailed below.

WARNING: This process will require some downtime starting with step 2 and lasting until all steps have been completed and the DNS propagates, which could take up to 4 hours. During this time, it will not be possible to receive incoming email. Please ensure you have sufficient time to perform these steps in order to ensure minimum disruption to your email service.

STEP 1 – BACKUP YOUR DATA

NOTE: It is not possible to have mailboxes associated with a domain to be hosted with Office 365 and another email service simultaneously. All of the mailboxes on a domain must be moved to the Office 365 service.

For each mailbox that is moving from nsMail to Office 365, make a backup of the data.

Outlook Users on PC Using POP/IMAP

  1. 1. Navigate to File > Open & Export > Import (don’t worry; this includes exporting options as well).
  2. 2. Select Export to a File > Outlook Data File (.pst).
  3. 3. Select the name of the account you are backing up and not just the folder Inbox (e.g. jane@janesbagels.com) then click Next.
  4. 4. Note the location of where you save this file and name of the file you create (you can change this by clicking the button labelled Browse).  Leave the option “Replace Duplicates…” selected and click Next.
  5. 5. (Optional) add a password to your Data File.  This is not necessary or commonly used.

  2. 2. Click My Email.
