Privacy settings, also known as Private Registration or WHOIS Privacy, hide the contact information associated with your domain name. Some privacy services offer a fake email address that filters out spam and forwards messages to your valid email address.
In either case, there is a risk that you may not receive the transfer authorization emails. If you do not respond to the transfer authorization emails, then the transfer will fail.
Resending Transfer Authorization Emails
To resolve this, you must temporarily turn off any privacy features. Then log in to your account at the current provider or contact them for assistance. This change may take up to an hour to take effect. You can check whether the domain name email address is public or private by looking up your domain name in the WHOIS lookup tool.
Follow these steps to have the authorization email resent to you:
- 1. Temporarily turn off any privacy features by logging into your account at your current provider or contacting their customer service team for assistance.
- 2. Ask your current provider to resend their authorization email.
- 3. After you have updated your settings, then click here to log in to your Account Manager to resend the authorization email.
You can check whether the domain name email address is public or private by looking up your domain name in the WHOIS lookup tool.
