Follow these instructions to build your Secure WordPress® website:

Log in to Your Secure WordPress Administrator Panel

The first step in creating your Secure WordPress website is to log into the administrator panel:

  1. 1. Click here and log in to the Account Manager.
  2. 2. Click My Blog Package.
  3. 3. Next to the appropriate package, click Manage.
  4. 4. Click Login to WordPress.
  5. 5. Enter the Username and Password you created when you installed your WordPress package.
  6. You are logged in to the WordPress administrator panel.

Select a Theme to Set Up the Look and Feel of Your Website

Follow these instructions to select a theme for your WordPress website:

  1. 1. In the administrator panel, hover over Appearance, then click Themes.
  2. 2. Click a theme to preview a larger image.
  3. 3. On an appropriate preview, click Activate.
  4. You have added a theme to your website.

Note: Once the theme is activated, you can click Customize to change any options of the theme. These options vary based on theme.

Upload a Custom Logo to Your Website

Note: Adding a custom logo to your website might be different based on the theme that you have selected.

Follow these instructions to add a custom logo to your WordPress website:

  1. 1. In the administrator panel, hover over Appearance, then click Themes.
  2. WordPress themes are displayed. Your current theme should be in the top-left of the page.
  3. 2. On your current theme, click the Customize button.
  4. 3. Click Header Image.
  5. 4. Click Add new image.
  6. 5. Drag and drop your custom logo image onto the Add new image panel, or click Select Files and navigate to your custom logo image on your computer.
  7. The image uploads to WordPress.
  8. 6. When the image finishes uploading, click Select and Crop.
  9. The image opens in a crop tool.
  10. 7. Use the crop tool to select the area of your image you want to display:
    • Move the small squares around until the part of the image you want to use has a white background.
    • When finished, click Crop Image.
  11. 8. Click the Save and Publish button.
  12. You have added a custom logo to your website.

Create Categories for Your Website Posts

Categories can help organize your posts and help visitors in website navigation. Follow these instructions to create categories in WordPress:

  1. 1. In the administrator panel, hover over Posts, then click Categories.
  2. 2. Enter the name of the new category, then click Add New Category.
  3. You have added a category for your website posts.

Create Your First Post

Creating an early post will help understand how posts will look as you style your website. Follow these instructions to create your first post:

  1. 1. In the administrator panel, hover over Posts, then click Add New.
  2. The Editing Page appears.
  3. 2. On the Editing Page, enter the following information:
    • Title: A summary of your post
    • Content: Add text, images, videos, or whatever you want. This is your website!
  4. When finished, click Preview.
  5. 3. On the Preview page, make sure your content is correct.
  6. 4. When finished, click Edit. You are returned to the Editing Page.
  7. 5. Make any additional changes to your post, then click Publish.
  8. Note: You can preview your post again before publishing by repeating step 2.

  9. You have published your WordPress post.

Preview Your Website

As you make changes to your website, you can preview to make sure it looks the way you want. Follow these instructions to preview your website:

  1. 1. In the administrator panel, hover over My Sites. Then hover over your website name and click Visit Site.
  2. A preview of your full website appears.
  3. 2. When finished, hover over My Sites Then hover over your website name and click Dashboard.
  4. You are returned to the WordPress administrator panel.
  5. You have previewed your website.
