Text (TXT) records have several functions. One common function is to use the TXT record to create a Sender Policy Framework (SPF). SPF records help to stop email spammers from forging the From fields in an email. It allows the owner of a domain to designate the IP address that can be used to send email from that domain.

To find the instructions on how to modify your TXT records, please click the brand where your domain name is registered.

Network Solutions

If your domain is registered with Network Solutions, follow the below instructions to update your TXT records:

  1. 1. Click here and log in to the Account Manager.
  2. 2. Within the Account Manager, use the drop-down list box under My Domain Names to choose the domain you want to manage, then click the Go button.
  3. 3. In the green box, select Change Where Domain Points.
  4. 4. Select Advanced DNS.
  5. 5. Click the Continue button.
  6. 6. If the domain name was not previously pointed to Network Solutions® nameservers (DNS), you will receive a page with messaging regarding this change. If you want to continue, click the Move Nameservers to Network Solutions® button.
  7. 7. In the Text (TXT Records) section, click the Edit TXT Records button.
  8. 8. Type a new Host name or 3rd Level name under the Host field and insert your text record in the text box on the right-hand side of the page, then click the Continue button.
  9. 9. A confirmation page will appear verifying that your records have been updated. Review the information carefully, then click the Save Changes button.
  10. You have updated your TXT records.

If you are attempting to implement a TXT record Please contact our support team as our front end system does not support the addition of TXT records.

Note: In the unlikely event that you recieve the error message, "We are unable to complete this update as your DNS records contain unsupported zone types (such as PTR records). Please contact customer support to remove the unsupported zone type records." You must call in and speak to an agent to have the agent remove the PTR records to allow the txt record to be entered.

Register.com

If your domain is registered with Register.com, follow the below instructions to update your TXT records:

Note: If the DNS servers listed for your domain name is administered by a company other than Register.com, you must contact that company directly to edit your TXT Records.

New Account Manager View:

  1. 1. Click here and log in to your Register.com account.
  2. 2. Hover over Domains, then choose Manage.
  3. 3. Choose Manage next to the domain name on the following page.
  4. 4. Scroll and look for the Advanced Technical Settings, then click Edit TXT (SPF) Records.
  5. 5. Enter information in appropriate fields.
  6. 6. Click Continue, then Continue again.
  7. You have updated your TXT records.

Classic Account Manager View:

  1. 1. Click here and log in to your Register.com account.
  2. 2. Click your domain name, the blue link in the center of the page.
  3. 3. Scroll and look for the Advanced Technical Settings, then click Edit TXT (SPF) Records.
  4. 4. Enter information in appropriate fields.
  5. 5. Click Continue, then Continue again.
  6. You have updated your TXT records.
