Overview

WHOIS contact information is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) upon registration of a domain name. This contact information is then entered into the WHOIS database, and when necessary, the domain owner can be contacted on different issues concerning their domain.

How Do I Access/Update My WHOIS Information Using the Domain Details Page?

To access or update your WHOIS information for your Network Solutions domain names, please do the following:  

1. Click here to login to the Account Manager. 
2. On the left-hand side of the page, click on Domains
3. Scroll down and click the Dropdown arrow for Domain Contacts. 
4. Click Edit


 

a. If you want to change the domain owner’s name, click on Change Name



A pop-up will ask you to enter your password for security purposes. Enter your password and click Confirm.  




Check the box to acknowledge that you want to update the contact information for all domains in your account. Then, click Accept.



Check the box to confirm that you want to save your updates, and click Save
 


Note: When changes are made to the domain owner’s contact information (First/Last Name, Phone, Email Address), an email will be sent to verify the changes and to inform the owner that the account has been placed on a 60-day transfer lock.




b. If you want to edit the Admin, Billing, or Tech information, select Admin/Billing/Tech then click Change.

You can choose an existing contact by clicking on the dropdown arrow, and you can update multiple domains by checking the box. 



Select the domains you would like to update with <domain contact name> as Admin/Billing/Tech. Then, click Save

 You have successfully updated your WHOIS information! 


Note: There are some country codes that restrict changing the contact information. If you see the red notice shown in the image below, you will have to contact customer support at 1-800-361-5712.

How Do I Access/Update My WHOIS Information Using the Account Center?

To access or update your WHOIS information for your Network Solutions domain names in the Account Center, please do the following:  

1. Click here to login to the Account Manager.  
2. On the upper right corner of the homepage, click the dropdown arrow beside your name.  
3. Select My Profile & Security.  



4. Click on Edit Contacts under the Edit WHOIS Contacts Section.  
5. Select all the domain(s) you wish to edit the WHOIS information for, then click Edit.  




6. Select which contact(s) you wish to change, then click Go.  


7. Choose who you wish to replace the current content with from the options given. Click Continue to finish.


Note: When you update your personal information, it will trigger a pop-up informing you that making changes to this section will put your account on a 60-day transfer lock.

What are the Domain Contacts and Permissions?

The contacts that automatically get assigned to your domain include: 

Owner 

The individual or organization who owns the domain. 

Administrative 

The individual who is authorized to make decisions and answer questions about the domain. 

Technical 

The individual to contact who handles technical settings for the domain. 

Billing 

The individual or organization who manages the billing and payment details of the domain.

How Do I Manage Perfect Privacy/Private Registration?

Private Domain Registration will mask your personal information on the public WHOIS database, which will prevent telemarketers and spammers from contacting you and your customers. 




To purchase and turn on Private Registration, please follow these steps: 

1. Click here to login to the Account Manager. 
2. On the left-hand side of the page, click on Domains. 
3. Scroll down and click the Dropdown arrow for Domain Contacts. 
4. Click Turn On under Private Registration. If you do not have the service yet, a pop-up will show telling you to Buy Private Registration. 
5. Click Continue. 




6. Select your desired term and click Buy. 

You have successfully purchased and turned-on Private Registration! 

To turn off Private Registration, follow these steps: 

1. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 mentioned above. 
2. Click Turn Off under Private Registration. 
3. Check the box to confirm that you want to turn off Private Registration.  
4. Click Turn Off. 



Note: When you turn off Private Registration, your personal information will be exposed in the public WHOIS database.
