If I set the account up as POP, will my Android phone pull messages out of my Webmail?

Note: By default, your device is set up in a way that it will not pull messages off of the server unless you delete the message on your device. This was indicated in your initial setup found in Step 7. For more information, please review the article How Do I Set Up Email on My Android Device?

If you never want email to be deleted from your Webmail as a result of any actions taken on your android device, follow the steps below:

  1. 1. Open the account in your Mail application.
  2. 2. Tap the More Options, which is usually indicated by three vertical dots in the tap right corner of your inbox.
  3. 3. Tap Settings.
  4. 4. Tap Manage Accounts.
  5. 5. Tap the account that you are modifying.
  6. 6. Tap More Settings at the bottom of the screen.
  7. 7. Tap Incoming Settings.
  8. 8. Select Never under the section that reads Delete email from server.

When I attempt to send a message, the message sits in my Outbox and does not reach the intended recipient. How do I update my Outgoing Server settings?

Note: This is typically a result of an incorrect setting related to your Outgoing mail server. Please ensure you have your full email address as the username and the password that was set when creating the mailbox. Also ensure the Outgoing server and port are correct. You can reference this table to verify the settings.

To update and verify the Outgoing Server Settings, follow the steps below;

  1. 1. Open the account in your Mail application.
  2. 2. Tap the More Options, which is usually indicated by three vertical dots in the tap right corner of your inbox.
  3. 3. Tap Settings.
  4. 4. Tap Manage Accounts.
  5. 5. Tap the account that you are modifying.
  6. 6. Tap More Settings at the bottom of the screen.
  7. 7. Tap Outgoing Settings.
  8. 8. The SMTP Server should be listed as smtp.<yourdomainname>.
  9. 9. Security type should be set to None.
  10. 10. Server Port should be 587. Note: this is the most commonly accepted port, but your Internet Service provider may require the use of a different port. Please check with your provider if the above steps did not resolve the issue.
  11. 11. Required sign-in should be checked.
  12. 12. The Username should be the full Email Address of the account you are modifying.
  13. 13. The Password should the password you used when you created this mail account inside of your account manager.
  14. 14. Tap Done.

How do I switch from POP3 to IMAP within my Android Device?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to switch from POP3 to IMAP. You will need to set up the account again, selecting IMAP instead of POP during Step 6 in the setup article. I am using IMAP, but not all of my folders, such as my sent, drafts, and trash are showing. How do I subscribe to all folders?

In most cases, it is likely not necessary to subscribe to any folders, like it is for many other devices and software. Your android device is smart enough to know what folders are available on the server and will use them. However, in some cases, you may just need to select Show all folders when viewing your existing folders

I had to change my mailbox password, how do I update my Android device with my new password?

Note: You may need to update both your incoming and outgoing server settings in addition to the main account password.

Follow the steps below to complete the process for all.

  1. 1. Tap update the Account Password:
  2. 2. Open the account in your Mail application.
  3. 3. Tap the More Options, which is usually indicated by three vertical dots in the tap right corner of your inbox.
  4. 4. Tap Settings.

How do I configure ActiveSync on my Android?

Note: There are a variety of different android devices running different software and/or different operating systems. If the steps below do not work for you, please contact your provider for assistance.

To configure an ActiveSync account on your phone to allow you to sync your mail, calendar, and contacts, follow the steps below:

  1. 1. Tap Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  2. 2. Enter the Email address and password of the mail account that you are setting up.
  3. 3. Tap Manual Setup.
  4. 4. Enter your Email address and password.
  5. 6. If prompted, leave the Domain field and the Exchange Server field blank.
  6. 7. Select the box for Use secure connection (SSL).
  7. If prompted with an SSL or secure connection warning, accept the warning or tap OK.
  8. 8. Configure the account options, for example, Period to sync Email, Sync schedule, etc., as desired then tap Next to complete your setup.
